アキラ君の足指を作っています。

親指が難しいです。

Now I'm working for Akira's toe fingers.

It is very difficult to make the big toe.

最近棒編みも始めました。

棒編みって結構道具が必要なのですね。

I started knitting recently.

I didn't know that I need quite lots of tools for knitting.

早速レッグウォーマーを編んでみました。

編み目の綺麗さではかぎ針よりも棒編みですね。

そのうち人形のセーターとかカーディガンとか

編めるようになりたいです。

そして靴下とかブルガリアスカートとかも！

I started knitting this 2-color leg warmers.

I really like the beauty of the stitch.

I think it is better than the one of crochet.

I hope I will be able to knit my dolls' sweaters and cardigans someday.

Ultimately socks with complex patterns and Bulgaria skirt, too!

A HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012!

幸運にもセバスチャンはとてもとてもとても元気で

こうして人形の棚に飛び乗っては人形と遊んでいます。

Fortunately, Sebastian is very very very fine and healthy

he jumps up to the doll shelves and plays with them.

昨年度は色々と作ったのですが

紹介するに至らないものばかりでした。

アキラ君の足を現在作っています。

I made lots of things last year

but I didn't post them for some reasons.

Now I'm working on my ichimatsu boy's feet.

足の指の針金を仕込みました。

I fixed some wires for his toe fingers preparation. 

足袋や鼻緒がきちんとフィットするような

足指にしたいなぁ。

I want to make his toe in the way that the Japanese kimono socks and

the geta shoes fit perfectly.

久しぶりにアキラ君の話題です。

首関節がほぼ完成しました。

後は上半身に固定したり、塗りをしたりになります。

About my ichimatsu boy, Akira-kun.

His neck joint is almost done.

I need to fix it to the upper body somehow and

paint and polish.

内側から見た所です。

これだと受けと球がぴったりすぎて

これから何層も塗りをしたり、受けを保護する皮を貼付けたりすると

絶対に球と受けが合わなくなります。

ですからもう少し余裕をもたせることにします。

Inside view.

I think I need more space between the ball and the socket

because I will paint 10 times on the clay surface

and then paste leather piece on the socket to protect it

from the friction.

球体関節なので可動範囲が広がります。

こうして横を向いたり

Ball joints enable dolls to move more freely: he now

can look aside like this

こうして微妙な角度に傾けることも出来ますし

he can tilt his head like this

可愛く首をかしげることも可能です。

he can sweetly lean his head like this.

受けの形も綺麗に整えました。

次は足を作ります。

I neatened the shape of the socket.

I will make his legs next.

アキラ君の下半身はあとちょっとで完成です。

上の切り口を整え、細かい部分も左右対称にしていきます。

My ichimatsu boy's lower body is about to complete.

I leveled top edge even and still working to

make it symmetrical.

この人形は自立することを前提としていないのですが

しっかり左右対称に作るように心がけております。

I'm trying very hard to make this doll body symmetrical

even though this is not going to be able to stand

by itself.

お尻も綺麗に出来ました。

I think I did a good job on his hips.

これは私の友達が作ってプレゼントしてくれた

小さなお皿です。

白地にミルフィオリの春らしい可愛いお皿と

黒地にキラキラ大きめガラスのしっとりとしたお皿です。

とても綺麗で何をのせようか考えるだけで

ワクワクしてきます。

These are my friend's handmade

small glass plates.

White based plate with spring color millefiori and

black based plate with big shiny color accents.

They are so pretty and make me happy to think

what should I dish up!

市松人形カスタム Ichimatsu boy doll customize 首の受け Neck Socket

首の関節の受けを作ります。

まずは高さを決めます。

Now I am going to make a neck joint socket.

 I need to decide the height of the neck first.

個人的に首が長い方が好きなのですが

子供の市松人形なので短めにします。

I personally like the long neck but

since this is a boy let it be relatively short.

球にラップを巻いて受けを作ります。

Wrap the hemisphere to protect it 

and make a socket.

受けの粘土が乾燥した所です。

まだ完成ではありません。

This is after the clay has dried; not complete yet.

非常に小さな変化しか見られないのですが

アキラ君のボディは少しずつ出来ていっています。

You only see tiny differences in Ichimatsu boy custom process

but it is in progress.

首に半球をつける作業のため、日々こうして

ストッキングをかぶせられるアキラ君

途端に表情が消え生気がなくなります。

I have to cover his face with the stocking 

to prevent scratches and clay dust

but once I put a cover on, he becomes expressionless

and spiritless.

綺麗に半球をとりつけました。

首との段差も粘土で埋め

きっちり均しました。

This is after the addition of the hemisphere to the neck.

I filled up the gap between the neck and the hemisphere

with clay and even out.

アキラ君の首をいじっています。

ずっとどうやって首と上半身を繋げるか悩んでいました。

元は太い針金が１本突き刺してあって

首の切り口は平らでボンドでくっつけられていました。

粘土で固定してもいいのですが、どうせなら少し首が

動かせた方がいいなと思い、半球をつけて球体関節っぽく

してみることにしました。

頭が石膏で出来ているのでとても重く、とてもゴムで

繋ぎ止めることは出来ないので、どうにか他の方法を

とろうと思っています。

Now I'm working on Akira-kun's neck part.

I have been thinking how I can connect his head to the body.

Originally, there was a thick wire stuck from the head to body

and the edge of the neck was flat and was glued to 

urethane foam body.

It is okay to fix the neck to the body with clay

but I wanted something more, thought it is better

if his head moves so I decided to make it like ball jointed doll's neck

(not precisely same but similar).

Since his head is made of plaster and extremely heavy

it is impossible to use rubber band for connecting head and body

so I need to think of using something else.

アキラ君の髪の毛は糊で頭に貼付けられているので

とても作業の邪魔になります。

顔に傷がついたり、粉がついて汚れたりするのを防ぐために
ストッキングをかぶせています。
女の子っぽい顔に見えます。
His hair is glued directly to his head and it disturbs me
and I cannot work.
I'm afraid of scratching his face and make it dirty with
clay dust so I covered it with ankle-length stocking.
He now looks like a girl.

引続きアキラ君の下半身です。だいぶ左右対称になってきました。

I'm still working on Ichimatsu boy's lower body.

It looks more symmetrized compare to the picutre I uploaded last time.

お尻はもっと手を加える必要があります。

I need to work harder on this.

上半身に穴を開け、首を繋げてみました。

アキラ君の表情がグッと市松らしくなりました。

Head and upper body connected to see how it works.

Now he has classical impression which is similar to 

the old ichimatsu possesses.

上半身が落ち着いてきたので下半身にも手を加えていきます。

アキラ君の下半身です。

お腹はぽっこりと子供らしくします。

バランスよく座れるように、脚の切り口もまっすぐに整えます。

Now I am working on ichimatsu boy doll's lower body.

Since he is sill a young boy, I made his belly chubby.

Legs' cut ends are made flat so that he can sit without falling down.

中の発泡スチロール芯をはずしたばかりですので

まだ表面がでこぼこです。

This is right after I took out the styrene foam core

from the clay so the surface is still very rough.

I need to even the surface lightly then symmetrize.

お尻です。

そろそろ画像にモザイクが必要になるんじゃないかと

そっちのことが気になってきました。

Hips.

I'm kind of worried that I might be going to need to put 

some mosaic on thesepictures as working process steps forward 

and the body becoming more real.

上半身がほぼ完成です。後は首を入れる穴を開けたり、塗りをしたりします。
Upper body is almost completed. All I need to do next is, to make a hall to insert neck  and paint.

肩甲骨も作りました。市松人形のボディは球体関節人形に比べるとかなりシンプルに作られているので、これくらいのディテールが限界かと思われます。
I made shoulder blades. I think Ichimatsu dolls have much more simplified figures compared to ball jointed dolls, so I guess this is the limit of adding details.

着々と出来ていく新しいボディに微笑みの戻ってきたアキラ君。次は下半身と足です。手はまだ考え中。
It seems like his smile came back to his face with the new body that is steadily approaching to its completion. The lower body and legs are coming next. I'm still thinking what to do with hands.

市松人形カスタム Ichimatsu boy doll customize 上半身 Upper body

市松人形のアキラ君の上半身を作っています。発泡スチロールで芯を作り、それに石粉粘土を巻き付け、芯を抜き、軽くやすりがけして均しました。
I am working for my Ichimatsu boy doll Akira-kun's upper body. I made the core with styrene foam, wrapped it with stone clay, pulled the core out from it, and then roughly filed the surface even.

中は空洞です。乾燥によるひび割れを内側も外側もよく練った粘土で埋めていきます。
It's hollow inside. I filled cracks caused by the process of drying with well-knead stone clay inside and outside.

粘土を盛って左右対称にしていきます。
Make it symmetrical with clay.

市松人形カスタム Ichimatsu boy doll customize 解体 To pieces

先日、市松人形の男の子を購入した話をしました。半年前に初めて見た時から勝手に「アキラ君」と名前を付けていました。見事なおかっぱがヒカルの碁のアキラ君みたいだったからです。そのアキラ君、届いた日にチェックするとボディが見事なまでにウレタン！このままではお座りも出来ない。ということで、ボディを作ることにしました。球体関節ではなくちゃんとした市松人形スタイルのボディです。
On the other day, I talked about new ichimatsu boy doll I purchased. It was a half year ago when I first saw him on the internet that I named him "Akira-kun" because his hair style looks similar to the one of Akira-kun from Hikaru no go. Anyway, I checked him and found that most of his body is made of urethane foam as I expected. I wanted him to be able to at least sit down so I decided to make him a new body with stone clay. This time, not ball-jointed but traditional ichimatsu body.

届いたその日に解体を開始しました。まずは土台と人形を離します。アキラ君を引っ張って土台からはずしました。こんなに深く芯があり、足は本当に足首から下だけしかありませんでした。しかも足は足袋の形に成型されたもので中は空洞、柔らかいプラスチック。
So I started to take him to pieces on the day I received him. First, I needed to separate the doll and the stand. I pulled Akira-kun and he came off. There are two thick and long wires and his legs are just feet, no legs (I hope you understand what I mean). His feet were made of soft plastic-like material (hollow inside) and shaped like wearing tabi-socks on.

袴、着物、お腰という層になっているのが見えます。
You can see his kimono layers, hakama, kimono, and okoshi.

羽織と袴を脱がせました。着物は袷かな？単衣かな？帯は正面の見える場所に端切れを貼付けている程度でした。
I took off his haori and hakama. I wonder his kimono is whether awase or hitoe? His obi was a small piece of fabric glued on the part only where it can be seen from the front.

何故襦袢ではなくお腰と書いたかというと、着物の振りから襦袢らしき袖が一切見られなかったのと、この通り、めくってみると本当に裾部分の布しかなかったからです。しかもこれ糊でウレタンに貼付けられていました。
The reason why I called it okoshi, not juban is because I didn't see juban sleeve from the furi (open slit of kimono sleeve) of kimono and as you can see, this fabric covers only the skirt part! And it is glued on the urethane body.

丸裸のアキラ君。典型的な現代量産市松人形です。
Akira-kun all naked. This is a typical mass produced modern ichimatsu doll.

手もウレタンからはずしました。これもソフトプラスチックで出来てるみたいで、中は空洞です。それにしてもぷくぷくしてて可愛い手です。
I took off his hands from the urethane foam. They seem to be made of soft plastic like feet, hollow inside. I really like this hands, they are chubby and looks exactly like child's, so cute.

そして最後に頭をボディからはずしました。こちらにも太い針金がはいっていました。頭はどうやら石膏で出来ているようで、頭だけとても重いのです。アキラ君は鼻の頭に胡粉がはげた傷が小さくありますが、これは頭の重さでバランスをくずして倒れた時についた傷でしょう。胡粉を塗り直すにしても、石膏の顔なので修復が難しそうなので、今回は顔はいじらないことにします。それにしても来たその日に首だけにされるなんて、アキラ君も想像だにしなかったでしょうね。急いで体作るね！
And at last, I separated his head from the body. They are connected with thick wire and thick layers of glue. His head is made of plaster and that made his head soooo heavy. Akira-kun has a tiny scratch on the top of his nose. I guess he got it when he fell down losing his balance due to its weight. At this point, I don't have enough knowledge of working with plaster so I am not going to fix his scratch. Leaving all those things aside, I thought Akira-kun would never have imagined that he would have become only head on the day he arrived at new home. I will make his body as soon as possible!

市松人形 男の子 Ichimatsu boy doll

実は先日臨時収入がありまして、かねてから気になっていた市松人形を購入することにしました。待つこと１週間、無事に人形が届きました。
I had a special (extraordinary) income so I decided to buy the Ichimatsu boy doll I have been paying attention to. I waited for a week and received it in a good condition.

可愛〜い男の子のいちまさんです。着物と羽織がとても素敵なのです。お顔もとても可愛いです。
He is very pretty ichimatsu boy. His kimono and haori look so beautiful. And of course, his face is cute cute without doubt.

比較的最近作られた子ですが、表情は過去と現代の中間のような、とても素晴らしいものであります。
He is made relatively recently but his facial expression is somewhat a mixture of past and modern creation, very interesting and wonderful.

ふっくらしたお顔がとても魅力的です。ボディが見事にウレタンだったので、新しいボディを作ってお座り出来るようにします。すでに解体済みで頭だけになっています。昨日はボディの型の発泡スチロールを削り出しましたので、今日はそれに粘土をまきつける予定です。
His chubby face is very attractive. His body was made of urethane foam so I am going to make a new body and make him able to sit down. I already took him to pieces and his head is sitting on the counter. I made a new body's mold with styrene foam yesterday, so I am going to cover it with stone clay today.
